    LEC TechCast Video

Watch our latest LEC TechCast video in which Jeremy reviews the HP Spectre X13.

Hi, I’m Jeremy for Leading Edge Computers. This episode of the LEC TechCast we are going to look at HP’s thinnest notebook ever, the HP Spectre 13.

The first thing you notice about the Spectre 13 when you hold it, is how light and thin it is. However it still feels solid and very well built. It weighs in at just 1.1kg and is only 10.4mm thin!! In comparison, this is the thickness of a AA battery.

The second thing that you notice is how stunning it looks! Premium and luxurious are two words I would use to describe how this notebook looks and feels. It has been crafted with Carbon fibre and aluminium, and is finished in a striking two tone polished copper and grey colour scheme

There is also no noticeable hinge line where the screen meets the body. This is thanks to the two hidden hinges that are completely flush when the screen is closed. Opening the screen, these hinges blend nicely with the rear of the body.

The screen itself is a 13.3” Full High Definition IPS display. This gives you a crisp picture and ultra-wide viewing. It also makes it great for viewing movies, photos, and projects even at difficult angles.

The main body of the spectre has also been well thought. It contains a backlit keyboard that is finished in a matching copper & grey scheme. It also contains a glass trackpad that gives a smooth and accurate experience when navigating. Either side of the keyboard are Dual Bang & Olufsen speakers which are audio custom-tuned.

So we have talked about the look and feel of this sleek notebook but what’s under the hood??

Well even at 10.4mm thin, HP has still managed to fit in full intel core i5 & i7 6th gen processors giving the Spectre 13 solid performance.

A lot of devices this thin rely on the Intel M processors. However, recent cooling technology from Intel® actively draws cool air in. This is beneficial, as rather than just venting heat out, it allows the spectre 13 to utilise a more powerful processor without overheating.
Bundle this with the included 8GB RAM as standard, up to 512GB of PCIe based Flash Storage and Windows 10, you have one of the fastest and most powerful notebooks on the market today.

The Spectre also has three multi-use USB-C/Type-C ports that all support charging, high-speed data transfer, and external displays.

Next generation dual band AC Wi-Fi gives you faster wireless speeds. The 9 hours of battery life means you can work for longer on a single charge.

Designed for personal or professional use, the HP Spectre 13 is a premium laptop. It not only looks and feels like a high end luxury device, but delivers the performance as well.
